The Merry Go Round might not sound like a great place for Chinese food, but it’s some of the best on the Eastside.
The menu offers Chinese, American and South of the Border favorites, or mix and match, it’s your stomach. Asian cuisine offerings include Jalapeno Shrimp, BBQ Duck, noodles, egg foo young, fried rice, Hot and Sour soup and vegetable dishes like Spicy Tofu and Sauteed Green Beans.
Try the shrimp enchiladas or fish tacos. There’s also pasta, steak, ribs and lamb.
The restaurant has its own special sauce and you can take some home. Margie makes their own mellow, not-too-salty soy sauce and come in several flavors including coriander, ginger and aniseed.
Owners Dan Siegel and Kuei Chu love to yuck it up with the patrons and love listening and telling tales. They’re as good as the food and well worth the stop.
Lunch is served Wednesday-Friday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner seven days a week, 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. For reservations call 760.876.4115. Go to
