Barbecue in Lone Pine in serious business. The Lone Pine Smokehouse opened in August 2015, but only after the Pit Master, Mike White spend more than five months learning the tricks of trade from top smokers in Texas.
Country Kitchen is the classic small-town diner; cozy booths, great food and plenty of local color. Millions of visitors have hit the brakes driving through Big Pine for some coffee, chicken fried steak or a shrimp Po boy or breakfast, anytime.
There was a bar in Big Pine, Rossi’s Place, then it moved next door to stay with cousins before making it back down to where it started. A game of musical barstools.
Lee’s is less than a quarter-mile south of Downtown Lone Pine, but it feels like the last chance stop before countless miles of desert and parched landscape.
A cloud of hickory smoke wafts over Big Pine. It’s some of the finest smoke in the country and you can get some, too, for here or to go. It’s Copper Top BBQ, named the Best Restaurant in the Country by Yelp in 2015.
